Siding Repair and Storm Damage
Siding keeps weather off the wall framing. When it's cracked, loose or letting water behind it, the damage underneath can grow long before it's visible.

Common Siding Damage
Siding problems usually fall into a few categories.
- Cracks, holes and chips from impact
- Loose or missing panels from wind
- Warping or staining from water
- Failed caulk at trim, windows and corners

Hail
Vinyl can crack or puncture, especially in cold weather. Fiber cement and wood can chip, and painted surfaces show spatter marks. Storm-facing walls take the most damage.

Wind
Wind lifts and unlocks panels, especially at corners and gable ends. Once one panel is loose, others follow.

Water
Overflowing gutters, missing kickout flashing at roof-to-wall joints and open trim joints send water behind siding. Look for stains, swelling or soft areas.

Repair or Replacement
Isolated damage can often be repaired if matching material is available. Widespread damage, faded color that won't match, or water damage behind the siding may call for larger sections or full replacement.

Coordinated Exterior Work
Roof-to-wall flashing, kickout flashing and trim are shared between roof and siding. Doing them together avoids gaps between trades.
